Filmmakers Tom and Matt Berninger talk about the making of Mistaken for Strangers, which Michael Moore called “one of the best documentaries about a band that I’ve ever seen.” When Matt, the lead singer of the rock band The National asks his younger brother, Tom, a loveable slacker and filmmaker, to join his band’s biggest tour yet as a roadie, he’s unaware of Tom’s plan to film the entire adventure. What starts as a rock documentary quickly becomes a crowd-pleasing journey about family, ambition, and the creative process.
